Craft makes taking notes so much fun for me because I have the excitement of feeling like I’m “creating” whenever I write something down, rather than just… writing something down.

Common Questions

Am I eligible for the Education plan?

If you’re a currently enrolled student, faculty or staff member of an academic institution, you’re eligible for the Education plan.

How do I verify my student/educator status?

When you register for Craft, we check if the email address you provided in your Craft account belongs to an official academic institution. Then we’ll send you an email, just click the button in it to activate the plan.

If you’ve already created your Craft account with a personal email address, please follow the instructions in this help article to change your registered email address to the one issued by your academic institution. Then you’ll also receive an email with a button to activate the plan.

If your academic institution does not provide email addresses, let our support team know.

In case you don’t receive an email within an hour after creating your account or changing your registered email address, we aren’t able to verify your status automatically. Then you’ll need to reach out to our support team.

For how long can I stay on the Education plan? Do I need to renew it?

As long as you are an enrolled student, educator or staff member at an academic institution, you can stay on the Education plan. Your verification will be valid for 12 months, after which you’ll need to re-verify your status. We’ll send you an email to remind you once it’s time.

I already have a paid Craft plan. Can I switch to the Education plan?

Yes you can! Drop an email to our support team and we’ll help you sort it out.

Why are you offering Craft for free for students and educators?

Craft is great for students and educators to take notes, write papers, and plan their day. We believe education should be accessible to everyone, and that’s why we offer Craft for free to students and educators.

I want to use Craft with my classmates, colleagues or our student organization. How can I do that?

You can always share any of your documents with others and start working together on that document. If you are working closely with others, you can also create a Team in Craft. Team plans are paid, though please reach out to our support team and we can consider your situation and use case for a discount.

Which devices do you support?

Craft is available on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, Windows, and in your web browser as well!

Can I use Craft on all my devices with a single subscription?

Yes! You can use Craft on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Vision Pro, Windows, and in the Web app with a single subscription.

Is Craft the best note-taking app for college students?

Yes. Craft is consistently rated one of the best note-taking apps for college students. It offers unlimited documents free with a student email, works offline during lectures, syncs across all your devices, and includes an AI assistant to help summarize notes and draft papers. Unlike Notion or Google Docs, Craft is a native app that launches instantly and works without internet.

Can I use Craft to organize class notes and study materials?

Absolutely. Create a folder for each course, organize lecture notes by date, link related concepts across subjects, and use daily notes to track assignments and deadlines. Craft makes it easy to keep everything for school in one searchable place — notes, PDFs, images, and to-do lists.

Is Craft good for academic research and writing papers?

Yes. Craft is excellent for academic research. Collect sources and references in nested documents, organize your research by topic, and write your paper with rich formatting — headings, citations, code blocks, and more. The built-in AI assistant can help summarize long articles, rephrase sentences, and check your writing. Export to PDF or Markdown when you are ready to submit.

Does Craft work offline during lectures?

Yes. Craft works fully offline — not just read-only, but full editing. Take notes during a lecture with no Wi-Fi, on a plane, or anywhere without internet. Everything syncs automatically when you reconnect. This is a major advantage over web-based apps like Notion or Google Docs.

Can I collaborate with classmates on group projects in Craft?

Yes. Share any document with a link — your classmates can view or edit without creating an account. Add comments, assign tasks, and work together in real time. For student organizations or study groups, you can create a shared Team space to keep all project documents organized.
